First year for digital odometer?

Hello,

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question, just assumed the answer would be in this year range?

My buddy is just curious, what was the first year for digital/computer odometer?

Looking to find a year cut-off because he's looking for a truck, and doesn't want one that could easily be "rolled back" with the old mechanical odometers.

Thanks.

*Winner*....

1992 Started the Electronic Odometer.....

Any tire size difference, and the change can be adjusted via the odometer....BUT, IIRC, you only get 4-5 times of swapping the adjustments, then you have to take it to the dealer...

'92 was the first year for the digital odometer, and it can be reprogrammed up to 6 times.

.....and from what i've heard and read on here and the PSD forum, these electronic odometers won't hit 400k miles. They go 399,999 - 300,000.

My '03 E250 has an analog odometer (digitally controlled, though, I'm fairly sure--probably not cable-driven like the '91 and earlier F-series trucks).
