I've never been to NY city, drove through Buffalo many years ago on the express way. I've had the misfortune of having to drive through Chicago many times. There is now way to go east from here without having to through the Chicago/Gary IN area. I consider this area the armpit of the country. Sorry flatlanders but it's a horrid place. How does NY city compare to Chi town?

Hey Bob as you know I'm more of a Central IL farmer wanna-be type but I did live in Chicago for a year many years ago. I was very happy to return home but I do like to visit Chicago once in awhile. It is a cool city if you do some exploring and figure out ways to get around. You just have to be careful and not let this happen to you...

NYC
Sorry to disagree with you folks, but I grew up in Connecticut about 50 miles outside NYC. Can't count how many times I've been there. Have many fond memories. It's not as bad as you think. People are very friendly, you just have to get their attention as everyone is rushing and in the middle of something. But have your guard up, don't carry your wallet in your back pocket, I'm not kidding. It's the only place I ever been to where the buildings are so high and there are so many that you really feel like you're inside when you're outside. It's just like one big circus, enjoy the view.
