Rear hubs on a 54, issue with re-drilling...need help

We are wanting to re-drill the rear to the 5x4.5" pattern...there's a 1 1/4" hole right where one of the 4.5" holes needs to be.
Anyone ran into this? Is the only solution to remove the existing studs, fill those, and re-drill right below them on the new pattern? Seems like that is a weak solution.
I'm having trouble finding new hubs to purchase...any donor vehicles that would be an easy swap?

(pic of hub in album, if i don't get it posted here correctly)

Have you just considered getting a set of those billet adaptors. I easily found a set on ebay for mine. Converted it from a 5 x 5 1/2 to 5 x 4 1/2.

With the adapters, don't you have to constantly tighten the lugs? Or is that a myth? I've seen it mentioned in threads alot...am I missing the voice of the "silent majority" that don't have issues with lugnuts coming loose?

The instructions that came with mine just said they had to be torqued to a certain value that I cannot recall. I imagine one could come loose in the same fasion as the wheel itself. But I certainly think re-torquing them from time to time would be a lot simpler than trying to redrill and recenter that hub.
