Emergency Brake Cable

Emergency Brake Cable
I have a 51 F1 undergoing a body off resto, here's my question: When installing the emergency brake cable at the rear brake how does it attach to the rear brake pad? They were disconected by the P.O. It is not evident to me how it attaches. Can you F1 types help?

These to me look the same as about anything else's brakes - the e-cable attaches to an arm (at the bottom front side, there is a little groove) on a pivot that flexes when the arm is pulled (so no hydraulics involved - hence the e-brake works even if you lose all brake fluid). They were close enough to the same as a chevy / dodge - even a more modern drum brake (my 89 passenger car even looked the same). Brakes haven't changed much over the years.
I am at work right now and don't have pics already taken to post. Since your count is low I assume you can't use the search feature yet and will hunt for you - but googling around on the public www you should find some pics too.

Scroll down to the end of item #7 and the beginning of #9 - he has pretty decent pics of what goes where and how it all attaches.

just checking back, on a 51 you will most likely be missing all the self adjuster stuff so yeah there are less parts on yours, and fronts of course don't have the e-brake stuff so don't think you are missing a ton just cause your pix look different. if you are at all unsure, post pix - we're glad to help. napa and such sell self adjuster kits (overpriced imho -just go to a junkyard and rob from a few different newer models with the right size till you have all the parts)
