I saw it, it was one of the few unread, I got suckered into clicking on it.... I feel it was dirty trick too - oh well, no complaints - I haven't paid so expect it (use firefox + adblock and flash block and that is almost the only ad I see)
hmm I have seen them several times Bob. was sure there was a thread about them awhile back and one of the mods explained or something.. Maybe I am just getting old and dreaming I am a paid supporter, and if the stp post as is bad as it gets, I can live with it to enjoy the company of all these fine folks
That thread is still open as far as I know....
As much as I don`t like ads either advertising an old fact of life whether it`s bill boards, radio, TV, fliers, junk mail and newspapers.
Like Bill says, someone has to pay.
I seen the STP ad/post starting on Wednesday.. no big deal, IMHO. I would much rather have the occasional ad/post come up that to be inundated by the BRAND C & D ads that scroll across the top of the board. I wish I could afford to be a paid member of the board, but that means that much less I can put towards my 56 Effie...
I don't see them offering anything free... so it's an ad! I did become a supporter for two reasons first to keep this site going and the second was so I didn't have to deal with the ads... Just my 2 cents... But I think it should have said it was an ad in the title.
I've said this before, but worth repeating. A lot of members now look at FTE on their smartphones. If you're a supporter, that becomes a HECK of a lot easier because the gazillion ads don't have to load. I realized that after I paid the fee and was glad of it.
Ditto Doc's comment. Yesterday my log in vanished and I got all the ads on the iPhone. What a mess. I logged back in pronto. The sponsorship fee is a small price to pay to avoid the junk. Stu
