One thing to watch that I don't see brought up often is wheel capacity. Every wheel will be rated for weight capacity, max psi and max tire diameter. If you can't find the specs, they are probably to low for a Diesel Superduty.

Roger that. Taken into account.

Ok I know I have been bouncing back and forth for a long time now but i should have the doe to do this here within the next week or two.

I know it is spendy but here is my plan.

Got a quote for everything = $2,750.

Wheels -> 18" x 10", -24 offset (Motometal M0961A)

Wheel Pros

Tires -> 35-12.5-18 (Cooper Discoverer STT Mud)

COOPER DISCOVERER STT MUD TIRE by Cooper Tires

Also, has anybody ever heard anything about the new ' FEDERAL COURAGIA ' They come in 35-12.5-18 and I got a quote from schwabbies for $1,308 or $1,500 out the door. The tread pattern looks even more spaced out and aggressive than the cooper stt's so I think i would burn through them quicker but who knows.

Your input is appreciated.

Thanks

I bought a set of STTs for my wifes 2008 grand cherokee and not a single complaint so far they only have about 5k on them still look brand new. She took it out in the back woods behind our house and they did good, they dug when they needed to

The STT's are a good tire and a bit more economical than the Toyo M/T's with similar tread design.

FYI...around here Les Schwab is one of the most expensive places to buy tires. Almost any tire shop can easily beat their prices. I only shop there if I have to! They will usually try to push you into Toyo tires cause they make the most markup on them, or one of their off brands.

One of my buddies is gonna try the Goodyear Duratrac's. He didn't get as many miles out of his BFG A/T's as hoped for(35-40K). Hopefully they wear better than the GY M/T's....they were like 20K.

I got the 18inch 305 mud country's and love them. I'll be putting them on again. I've also had the FC-II and they are great also.

I got a set of new BFG ATs not long ago....and after browsing craigslist on a regular basis I really regret buying new tires. My next round I'll probably find a set of 16.5" rims and just get surplus military tires from now on.

Instead of $1200 each round it'll be $400-$600 for a good set of bigger, more aggressive tires. I find 37's for half the price of my 35s on a regular basis.

If you dont go that route, I got my tires from Discount Tire Direct by calling and asking for a $100 rebate. They threw it in no problem, no hesitation. That, and free shipping put them way below anybody else. But like I said I will never buy new tires again, I could have easily found a equal set for half the price....that $650 or so could have easily been enjoyed somewhere else.

they are heavy tires though

my 2 cents

EDIT: Take a look...this is just from searching military tires on my local CL...give it a shot

bryce,

I was at costco in yakima the other day and they had BFG K2 or whatever they are, their mud terrain that are normally close to 400 dollars a piece, for 220 I believe it was. I know its not cheap, but for the tire they are it might be worth checking out
