Just wondering about Mercon V in the E4OD.
My 96 FSB needs Mercon.

E in the TR code on vin tag = E4OD, correct ? does this = 4R100 also?

 

Yes, my truck came from the factory with Dexron II / Mercon spec fluid, and it worked very well for a lot of years, Mercon V was supposedly an upgrade, but i'll go back to Dexron II, as it's 50% cheaper, and it actually made it for 200k miles (well, the tranny did) without even a flush... I will be doing the proper maintenance this time.

 

I've been reading up on Mercon/V supposedly not the same.
I plan to read the specifications on the bottles the next time
I am at a parts store.
Mercon v not good for E4OD. IDK.

 

Mercon V > Mercon, the Mercon V surpasses the specs of the plain Mercon, and can be used in any application that used Mercon, Dexron II/III before.
