Firewall Insularion Pad

Does anyone happen to have a firewall insulation pad they would be able and willing to make a template oF? I need to make a insulation cover for the inside of the cab and do not want to spend the $$$ on an ABS one. What has everyone else done to cover their firewall. Thanks for the help and input it is always appreciated.

I sprayed my firewall with LizardSkin, added a layer of Dynamat Extreme, and then covered it with a layer of closed cell foam and mass loaded vinyl as soundproofing. Boom Mat makes a soundproofing product that has a leather-look outer skin that would probably look good if the firewall area is exposed. Most trucks today are using panels to hide the underside of the dash though.

do you have a pic you can post of the final outcome? That sounds fairly easy and inexpensive.

Not much to look at, the MLV soundproofing is the last layer applied and it is just black vinyl. The LizardSkin is sprayed on and is about 1/8 inch thick, the Dynamat is another 1/8th inch, the CCF and MLV together add another 1/4 inch. All in all the whole system is thinner than the original jute padding that came from the factory. Now that I think about it the MLV looks a lot like the black painted cardboard that was OEM.

gotcha, my thought was to make a firewall cover and cover it with the same charcoal vinyl that the rest of the truck is upholstered with. I may go to Lowes and get some foil insulation and see if they have a sheet of ABS big enough then I'll just take the heat gun to it.

Too bad I didn't know about this a couple of weeks ago, I just trashed a fiberglass firewall cover that I had laying around. I guess that's the way it always works though, you never have a use for something until a few days after you trash it...

I bought an fiberglass firewall cover with a ford oval embossed in the center. I got it from Dennis Carpenter. It's moulded to fit the hump in the middle. I never used it because of an aftermarket heater / ac unit I put in left little room for it and I didn't want to cut it up. It's new still in the original plastic bag. If you're intrested PM me.

Thanks to ZOOT for his gracious offer unfortunately it is for a 52 F100 and I need one for a 54. If anyone else has a insulation cover they would like to sell or other ideas on covering the firewall then let's hear them. Thanks again Dean for the offer.
