Used 6.0 Liter Coolers

Just a heads up for anyone near the Bay Area, CA looking for 6.0 Transmission coolers. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...6-0-6-4-a.html Too far for me, but seem very reasonable.

quick question, why do we replace the 7.3 cooler with the 6.0?
Im rebuilding my 4r100 now, so should this be included in the rebuild?

The 6.0 cooler is much bigger and will offer superior cooling power

There are two versions. A 26 row and a 31. Both are a big improvement. If you want even more cooling go with a 31 row cooler.

They are both bolt on upgrades.

A 6.0 cooler depending on size (26 vs 31 row) is about 2.75 to 3.5 times the size of the 7.3 cooler. I wouldn't get hung up on the number of rows...both cool very well and really one isn't that much better than the other.

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market, I got one of this site for $100.

Also, slightly off topic; if you're rebuilding your 4R100 it might be worth investing in an in-line "spin on" type filter kit.

With the filters make sure it has a bypass valve in the head and can flow enough. A 4R100 with a locked TC can flow about 3-4 GPM.

You can buy the kit from dieselsite and they will set you up good.

Here is a little help for you on both topics.

External Filter Write-up

I put these together to help others save time and money figuring out how to do it.

Yeah, basically all that is a Baldwin OB1318 base, which you can pick up for like 25-40 bucks. A few more dollars in hose barbs and your done.
