Frod E-350 diesel
I am looking to buy a 2005 Ford Econoline van for my business, I want to make sure I am not making a mistake. I have read some info on this engine and want to do al I can to make sure it is taken care of, if I do get it.
First, if you had a business like mine where you run a lot of service calls all day, anywhere from 5 to 25 miles apart, would you buy a van like this? I do take good care of my vehicles, but the idea of blowing a head gasket scares me! Especially on a van!
Second, if you do think this van is a good choice, what would be the first things you would do to it to make sure it is in the best working condition? What maintenance issues? What changes or additions? I read something about installing a coolant filter. What is that and where?
Anything I can do to assure it is well taken care of and will last without any problems is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First things I would ask for is maintenance records that is key for a 6.0.
Oasis is also a good thing to get before buying it.
Look for leaks underneath the van, white residue around the degas(coolant bottle) cap.
I would also buy it from a dealer that would offer an extended warranty.
Another thing I would do it pay the couple hundred dollars and have it checked out by a reputable 6.0 dealer or shop. Doing that could save you thousands in the long run.
Drive it and feel for misses, bucking, smoke...etc.
I would also make sure the motor is dead cold when doing the first start up.
