Flow techs do not seal well the flanges are really thin. If you go with those get reflex gaskets and stage 8 locking fasteners. You prob Should get thes things anyway. It nice to not have leaking exhaust.

This is a great thread! I tried to start one like it over on the bumpside forum, and haven't gotten anything very helpful so far. I'm looking for all this same stuff on a 72 f100 390 2wd just to get some ideas and options.

or you could take the simple way out and route the pipes under the crossmember, haven't had any issues yet with mine run like that. IMO flowmasters sound the best on these engines, i don't like the cheap farting sound of straight through mufflers.

vids in the sig

I dont have a video camera except my iPhone 4. It takes pretty decent video. I'll try and take one by the end of the week. Either way I love the super tens they are just right. The supper 44's I had before weren't quite loud enough. I could barely hear them at idle. These have a good sound all the time and only get really loud when you stomp it.

Yea that iphone should probably be alright, it's just annoying when people post up exhaust vids on youtube and the quality is soo bad that they'd be better off not posting them.

I'm running 40's right now but that's because I didn't know how the 10's would sound.

I aint got any pics right now, but I'll tell yall what I got. I got straight 2 1/2 pipes coming off stock manifolds running down the passenger side (my truck has two tanks) running into two cherry bomb 4 in. body glass packs. After that, they run over the rear axle and out behind the tires. And I have plans for summit headers.

On the 73 in my sig, here is the plan:
Headman Hedders 89100 into a dual 2.5" inlet and single 3" outlet Y on the passenger side, and then full 3" back to a single big-body 3" or 4" muffler. I'm thinking about a 3" MagnaFlow or a big *** 4" Jones Full Boar. Muffler size will drive pipe diameter for single exit before the rear wheel. If I decide its too loud, I'll take it over the axle and kill more noise.

I want big flow and low sound. I should get a lot of noise cancellation with the hedders merged into a single pipe. A single 3" will flow 747cfm and that is plenty of flow for the 390 up to about 4250rpm. The problem is finding a 3" muffler that will support that flow without significant restriction. That 26" long 4" Jones looks like it should be perfect. This is not a race truck or a mud runner, just a towin' and haulin' hulk.

I'll post vids when I'm done

If you 390 is a stock truck 390 you shouldn't be revving it much over 4grand anyways. If you like magnaflow, get one of them 14" mufflers or longer. I prefer the flowmasters though as they just sound better on these engines hands down no comparison.
