Thanks, I'll do some reading on that.

I guess I should add, its for my 94(carbed), I can't run in 5th pulling the camper at 75 mph unless its flat ground and no wind. I run 4th pulling, and average around 2700-3300 rpms depending on the road.

With this motor upgrade you'll have no problem towing in 5th. it goes without saying of course that the truck will need a complete exhaust system with headers to make that power, it will not get anywhere close to those numbers with the stock manifolds, Y pipe, and cats.

Already have exhaust covered, full length headers, into 2.5 innch mandrel bent pipe into a single 3 inch high flow muffler and mandrel bent tail pipe.

well your running 37" tires and 4.56 gears. 5.13's would make up the difference give you back 5th hauling the camper and be cheaper then the motor build. unless the motor is that tired and needing an overhaul.

Motor is new. Less than 8,000 miles on it. Its a lot better now with the 5.8 5 speed and 37s vs the old 5.0 E4OD and 33s (all with the 4.56s)

I don't want to drop to lower than 4.56s. One reason, is that I would have to use a notched cross pin in the rear axle due to how thick the gears are. And that would also make my assie locker unusable in the pickup. I also don't know how much of a difference the gears would make. I didn't see much of a power difference between 3.35s ans 4.56s when I had the 33s

Probably had the 5.0 then too right? If so that explains it.. the 5.0 just isn't enough motor for a truck this size.

Ya it had the 5.0 than.

Right now I hardly use 1st gear even pulling, so that's part of the reason I'm not too sure about lower gears inthe axles. I can take regular street corners in 3rd gear with it too.

I would go straight for AFR185s they will blow them Eddy heads out of the water. But you will need to change pistons. I am running the 165s and with my combo, it pulls hard from idle until 6k.

to bad you couldnt find one of the fsb guys there in your neck of the woods that had a rear end with 5.13's that you could just swap over to drive and see how it works out. the swap would only take a couple hours but would be worth the time/effort.

the ZF is just like the NP435. you dont use 1st gear on that tranny either. you start out in second gear.

Something like these?

Or how about these? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DRT-13301111

i like the darts for a street engine, but dont know how much less flow they have compared to the afr's. If someone else could chime in with desktop dyno results for both, that would be great
