I started the truck to move it. The truck changes gears hard. Also what could be the reason it idals at 2000rpms?....
Does the engine ever idle down? If not then sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Recheck all vac hoses again for cracks or missing caps.

Other possablity is the ECU is relearning the idle and that should take a few mins for it idle down as the ECU learns.

My guess is that you have a pretty severe vacuum leak. Check all the hoses and make sure it's not sucking air from somewhere in the engine compartment.

Eddiec1564: It idals normal when I first start the truck. Once into gear then back into park it is at 2000Rpms.

andym: All new hoses are on the truck. I will be doing some hard work on this truck from the looks of it.

Thank you all for your help!

my truck idles any where from 1k to 1.5k so 2k doesn't seem too terribly abnormal but its a concern, have you checked for vac leaks yet, does your truck hesitate or act funny in any way shape or form when driving it?

@bykrmom: could i get some made for my rig too? and jump in on that action too?

First, you can call me Angie... bykrmom is just the name log in with...a throwback from when I had a small bike shop

I have to save a couple hundred dollars for the digital cutter, and then a few more bucks for a variety of color of vinyl. Sadly it can't happen until I buy new ball joints and a new radiator for Beast.

When I can finally purchase the cutter and vinyl, I'll start a thread and will only charge for the actual cost of the vinyl to make them for FTE members. I have an extensive file of fonts and vector images so it could be fun to help you guys and gals dress up the rolling stock

At the moment my income is all just unemployment, so it's very small. Smaller yet because this F250 is falling apart in my driveway! I seriously love this truck, but at some point it is going to have to stop eating cash!

I'll let you all know when I can get it all together.

Hi Angie...

I'm not working due to injuries but I'll be back to work by the end of the year so my income is limited as well. I had to put an engine in my 250 recently which was tough to swallow at first but since then (about a month and a half) I've made over $4000 working the truck and have plenty more to do. I've actually turned down a few lower paying jobs. I had the jobs lined up already though, and already had several loads of scrap and enough flea market items to last all year. Otherwise, I may not have taken the financial risk until I was back at my real job.

Hope you get it running good and get your income in order. Patience and faith goes a long way

Thanks Kevin

It's harder to keep the faith now, as it's been a year since I last had a job. I keep looking and looking, but everyone around here wants to pay peanuts compared to my last job. But I try to remain positive

Well, 7 months ago I had two different doctors tell me I'd never be able to do my old job again or any job for that matter. I've had 5 surgeries since then and will have one more, then in about 60 days I'll be back doing what I do. You have to stay positive and never-ever give up. And have faith. I'm not preaching religion by that statement before anyone gets offended but faith in yourself and faith in what you believe in.

Again, good luck!

Ah, could be the Idle air control(IAC) hanging up, usually they hang up all the time and not idle down. But I had some do wierd things like that. Good time to take it off and clean it out. If it still does the rev up, unplug the IAC while the engine is at the high idle, if it drops down to base idle(under 600 rpm) then there could be a ECU or wire problem to the IAC.
