Battery Light after Replacing Altanator

On, had a battery boiling event on 2003 Expedition with 4.6. Typical whining noise to go along with it. But no battery light on dash. Wife also complained that lights were getting dim.

Replaced altanator and idler pully that was worn.

Start the can and battery light stays on. 14.2 DC V when motor is running. 12.3 or .4 when motor is off.

What is a charged battery supose to run when charged? Right at 13.0?

Thanks for any leads.....

Brand new battery 12.7 volts fully charged measured at the battery. Light is controlled by the regulator. Applies 12v to the bulb to turn off the light..12v at each side of the light turns it off. Sounds like either a connection or regulator.
