I am not sure if you can find any aftermarket parking brake, but did you try to adjust what you have?
I had mine pretty weak at 260k miles, but than I adjusted the slack and now it will hold 20k lb set on pretty steep hills.

Its the left side axle (the one closest to the ring gear).

Ive removed the 2 bolts holding the bracket over the left bearing.

Am I to remove the bolts on the housing for the planetary gears?

I looked again. I need to remove the hub that has the bolts for the wheel lug nuts.

I need to remove this in order to replace the emergency brake.

If removing the 8 bolts from the center cap will allow me to remove the entire hub/axle then Im in good shape.

I removed the 8 bolts and the axle slid out.

I still need to remove the hub (with the wheel lugs) so I can put the E-brake assembly on.

Once the axle was out I noticed what looks to be corrugated ring nut but it doesnt want to loosen.

Any thoughts?

There are notches in the nut it takes a special socket to remove them.
