Hello Bill-
I pasted your response on this thread so that we are consistent-
Welcome to FTE
Since you are a you are prolly unaware of the 1961/67 Econoline forum (Edit: I see where you also posted this in the Econoline forum, but since I read it here first...).
Your VIN has too many digits, should have only 11, the second 0 doesn't belong. The following is correct: E10TH698140.
E10 = E100 Pickup.
T = 170 1V I-6.
H = Lorain OH Assembly Plant.
698140 = 1965, assembled June 1965.
90" Wheelbase.
3 = Vermillion.
E100 Pickup, 3,600 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
D82: D = Light Beige Crush Vinyl & Medium Beige Ladder Pattern Woven Plastic // 82 = ? No such body code listed for 1965/67 Econolines. Should be 87 = E100 Pickup. With a D as the first digit: Deluxe Pickup.
6 = C4 Cruise-O-Matic.
03 = Ford WCR-K 7 1/4" Rear Axle / 3.50-1 / 2,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.
GVW omitted.
Net HP & RPM omitted.
22 = Charlotte NC Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the Econoline from.

you are right -- it is an 87 not 82 --
I have a question related to Spring Special-
What is that? My truck has the large chrome moulding on the sides-
It is an automatic and is original paint-- unmolested-- in really great rust free shape-- Is mine a Spring Special?
Thank you again for the answer to my post--

THe spring special pick up is desirable. Ford whammed in a whole bunch of extras for a very short time to compete with GM. The wide trim and probably white steering wheel etc. was all part of the package. If it is still the original red you are very lucky. The rarest of the rare is the blue or green special. Only one that is noted on another forum that collects VINS .. I believe

Correction VIN Data (Decode please) and Production #'s?
Bill -
I received the correct data on the truck and I originally had the wrong VIN-
Here is the VIN-
F10TH698190
Does this change the answer regarding when it was built?
Also does anyone know what the production #'s where-
- How many '65 E100's pickups were built?
How many Spring specials?
How many Vermillion ones?
Best regards,
Jim

698190 same as 698140 (June 1965 serial number range: 696,000-707,999) .
There is no info for any 1966 or earlier FoMoCo vehicles (except Shelby's) as to how many were what color, myriad promotion info, and etc because Ford tossed the info out decades ago.
Some production figures are available because R. L. Polk & Co. kept these records for the entire auto industry since the 19 teens.
1965 Econoline Pickup: 4,340 were assembled.
