Clunking sound, front and left
Could you guys take a stab at what might be making a 'thwack' or clunky sound in my front end? It sounds like it's coming from the front left wheel. It's not engine related. The frequency isn't related to rpm. It also doesn't seem brake related since whenever I apply the brakes it doesn't affect it.
Even at 5-10 mph it thwacks. It sounds like it's each revolution of the wheel so it's speed dependent.

Jack up the left front and put a bar under the wheel and go up and down and then grab the tire for a side to side. Mine sounded like that when the ball joints were bad.

Mine was 'clunking' for over a year..... before I talked to a garage about fixing it. I still waited another 6months before I fixed the ball joints. I saw no tire wear what so ever during that time. I was not worried a bit about driving my truck..... still drove it hard (pulled) the whole time.
Look at the tie rods and the rubber bushing for wear.
