Hello, the truck im working on today is my trusty daily driver, the 1987 F150. The cab is really starting to show it's age, and after a few Buds last night, i remembered i have a clean, straight 95 F250 cab!! I know the wiring and dash is totally different, and i know the cab will physically bolt onto the frame, but will all the firewall holes and attachments line up so that i will be able to hang my dashboard in the 95 cab and use existing holes to run the wiring, etc?? bump ... i could really use some help on this one ...

 

Did a "rebody" a few years back, newer cab & bed w/ 86 down ft sheet metal. All the body lines etc worked fine but I don't recall the harnesses & dash. I think we kept the newer cab's interior. Take pics & compare. I'm sure ford did not change that much, & if they did it's nothing a welder & grinder can't take care of.

 

Ive scraped a few trucks cuz well they where dead as dead gets and i do believe they are close in the firewall but like Brain said nothing a grinder and welder cant make work

 

i do know there were SIGNIFICANT changes between the 82 body style and the 92 body style ... firewall wasnt even close. Had to hack it all apart twice before i gave up on it all ... i figured the 87 and 95 cabs would be close ... i dont mind having to do some light fab work, but i dont want to have to do things like change heater box holes, move wiring harness holes, move steering column holes, things like that ...

 

you should be ok, as 87-96 trucks wern't changed much....

 

VVVVV 89 body w/ 92 cab. Lots was different, but it is possible. Dash did bolt in, i believe i needed to remove/add a brace from on to the other

how did the heater box and wiring plugs line up?? i can fab some stuff, but i dont want to get in TOO DEEP

 

I dont remember any problems w/ the heater box.... But my truck does not have AC either. I cant speak for that at all... As far as plugs go....



The 89 has a round wiring harness plug for the pass through the firewall, whereas the 92 uses a rectangular plug, and therefor has a rectangular hole. this is my mud truck, so being pretty under the dash doesnt mean as much to me

 

i can fit a round plug in a square hole ...lol

 

bumping, because im pondering doing this again... different truck, different cab, but same ideas.

the electrical holes in the firewall are different. so at the minimum you will need to modify the holes in the firewall.
and you will need to use the dash from the original truck because in 92 they went to electronic speedometer from the cable unit used in the 91 and older trucks, and the cable speedometer trucks usually do not have a VSS capability.
