They have a diesel Ford Focus in Europe.... Gets 40-50mpg. But it won't pass "EPA Standards." That's why we don't have it here, and that's just another reason the EPA is a joke. A really BAD joke.

Makes you really proud to me an American when you read about crap like this.

Our great, advanced civilization that we live in would rather burn more fuel, MUCH more fuel and do it slightly cleaner, than to save millions of barrels of oil.

Makes me sick sometimes...

and that is why we need to vote out all the politicians that have their heads up their asses, and vote in people that have a brain in their head.
do what the people want, not what some action committee pays you to do.

Back in the 80's Mitsubishi made some stuff for Ford. I remember my brother telling me about an F250 service truck they had at a garage he worked in that got a clutch a month. He said the tranny was so small you didn't need a jack to raise or lower it. In fact, he said he would lift it up with one hand and turn the yolk to line the teeth up with the clutch with his other hand. That's a small tranny for a truck! The truck had a 300 6 cylinder in it, and first gear we geared way too fast. That was the reason for so many clutches. And the owners wouldn't spend the money to install a granny 4-speed.

Yeah, the Rangers in South America (and I guess Europe) have turbo diesel engines. I'm not sure if Ford calls them "powerstroke" or not. I think they have a slightly different name.

Also, remember an imperial gallon (UK) is not the same as an American gallon. So 80 UK MPG is equivalent to 66.6 US miles per gallon.

Still the point remains valid. Why bother burning as cleanly as possible at the sake of greatly reduced fuel economy. It's totally stupid.

Ford in other countries have greatly different vehicles than in the US. I believe if you were in South America or an Aussie you could get a 2005 right side driver super duty with a 7.3. A coil sprung front end 7.3.

Thats because in those places they need reliable engines.

I wonder why they used the 7.3...... haha.

Reliability is why the use the 7.3 but the lack of the EPA is why they CAN use it!

I'd drive the heck out of a diesel Ranger.

Is it bad if I'm currently doing research into what all it takes to get a 2.8L Powerstroke in the USA?
Disco-Tech Industries, Inc. - Engines

Oh, yeah. This is making me want to buy an old Danger Ranger and make this thing happen.

I believe it was into the '07 model year that still had the 7.3.
I have a customer in Australia that told me that. I couldn't believe it!
