New noise (Loud&Strange)
Just returned from a 4000km trip home and back. When stopping in kamloops yesterday for fuel is when I first heard it.
When driving very slowly and turning it makes a very audible tinny pop noise- similar to when you hear exhaust cooling- the crackle and ping noise but quite a bit louder.
It seems to only do it at very low speeds and when turning, if it does it at highway speeds I cant hear it.
I checked exhaust, not loose or rattles. I popped hood and had the gf slowly drive and sounds like its coming from engine area. Does not make noise when not moving in any gear/P/N/R....
Any thoughts?

I doubt it.
I just dont know what else besides the exhaust (manifolds, pipes) that could produce such a noise...its really weird. Like a rock hitting the exhaust really hard.
If it is indeed coming from the motor it hasnt caused any ill effects as of yet, its running like a champ. ( I also got 850km on tank before my fuel light came on!)

That is a different problem you got there...
Is the exhaust modified and possibly hitting something?

Just a reminder here: *DO NOT EVER* run a diesel engine out of fuel, *ESPECIALLY* a high pressure common rail one. Doing so is likely to leave you stranded for quite a while unless you know how to bleed air out of the fuel system, and getting air into the high pressure fuel pump has a high probability of damaging it.
When I travel on long trips, I carry a minimum of a full 5gal can of extra fuel which allows me to safely extend my intervals between fuel stops by waiting until I'm failrly low on fuel before looking for a fuel station, safe in the knowledge if a fuel station doesn't show up in time I can add that extra fuel and be safe for another 50 miles while looking for a fuel station.

Ive got the spartan dpf/doc delete pipe, that is all. I got under truck tonight after work, checked front driveshaft, axle shafts, steering shaft, tie rods, exhaust..everything I could see and touch. Everything appears/feels solid. I tapped the rotor guards, they are pretty thin and tinny sounding, maybe something was hitting it? I reall dont know. I couldnt duplicate sound tonight.

(My fuel light never came on btw, but it had to be close)
Oh, on my way down on vacation I was running the 210 tune, and on the way back I was running the 275.....
