Man I love this thing!!!

So I finally have an actual powerful motor (got rid of that 5.4 and as much as I defended it while I had it....it truely is a turd in the Super Duty ) I love the growl inside the cab from the V10 vs the angry bee hive from the 5.4. On the way home with the truck I was on some rural roads that went from 40-55 a few times. Opened that sucker up on one of them and the smile was hard to keep under control. I have only filled up a half a tank and am due for a full fill up tomorrow so I'm curious to see as it is between 10-10.7 on the lie-o-meter. The 5.4 was giving me 11-11.5 on average so that power gain is worth it, if the gauge is correct. All mixed driving. It's hard to keep that right foot light on the pedal, it's just too much fun! Hopefully it'll treat me well over the next few years! Oh and if anyone is wondering it is a weekend toy and I have a fuel efficient car for the commute! Hopefully in the next year or so I can get a nice travel trailer to go vacationing with the family. I'll be watching this section more often from now on to get all the scoop on the V10.

So my initial hand calculated mpg is 9.7 with the on dash computer saying an avg of 10.1 so I'd say its accurate for now as it gives an average. The rpms have been over 3k quite a bit too!! Funny pat is I took it to a small family gathering last night and all the boo birds were out...."I'd hate to fill that thing up", "What do you get like 2mpg out of that?". Blah, blah, blah. Can't wait to see what the full gathering today will bring! Ahhh envy, brings out the best in people. I am always quick to reply "I have a car that gets 27mpg that I commute to work with but that just fans the flames of their envy more! Ha ha!

Love it!!

I know what you're talking about! My last tow vehicle was a small block Suburban, and towing our toy hauler up the Oregon coast, it really struggled, cresting some hills at 35mph and delivering 9 mpg towing/ 14 empty. The first trip with my '04 SD and we crested the hills at whatever I felt like and got 8 mpg towing and 14 empty. Plus there's a fairly steep hill near me with a 35 mph corner at the bottom that I can crest in my Mustang at 75 mph. Just for giggles I ran my truck up it and it hit 70 mph! I mean really? This is a 7,000 lb truck and it nearly runs as hard as my Mustang up this hill! Gotta love the V10...
