Should i be looking for a new motor??

Well my dads truck has been making weird noises lately and he said today that it clanked and stalled on him. He said it sounded like a rod knock, but i started it up and did not hear anything unusual. Something caught my eye though. There was oil on the bottom of the air intake hoses and i opened up the air box and there was major oil in there. The whole oil filter was soaked and the other small filter was dripping. There was standing oil in the bottom of the air box.

I took out the PVC and it wasn't clogged up and neither was the lines going to and from it. I can see smoke/steam/something white coming from the dipstick tube when running and giving a little gas. It also comes out of the breather to the air box. Im assuming the rings are toast and is pushing oil where its not supposed to be. Or am I wrong?

The truck runs great. No hard time starting, no ticks (well maybe some lifter chatter now and again) no smoke from the exhaust and plenty of power. Should i be looking for a new motor? Or is something else wrong here giving me excessive blow by? Here's some pics of the filter:

gas or diesel??
if it is a diesel, a clogged CDR valve will fill the air filter housing with oil.

The airbox on my '92 F350 was soaked with oil when I purchased it 2 years ago. I cleaned it up and installed a new PCV. I also re-routed the PCV vacuum line from the back of the intake manifold to the vacuum tree on the top center. 2 years later, no more drenched air filter. 155k on my 5.8L engine, still running strong.

x2 clean it all out and re-route the vacuum line like suggested above... You can clean or replace your PVC. I cleaned my buddy's and re-routed his vac line and he hasn't had any problems in the last 6-8months.

I'd do a compression check just to make sure the cylinders are healthy though... Just extra insurance

The PVC goes from the valve cover to the sensor in the middle of the intake next to the vacuum tree. Is this right?

The motor runs great. just this little blow by issue causing me all kinds of greif.

I would also start with a compression check. If the rings are shot and this is blowby, then the compression gauge will tell you so.

I am not sure. I think it is a motor craft one, but i will look to be sure. May change it jsut in case and see what happens. The location of the vacuum line is okay how i have it?

I am not sure what "sensor" you were referring to in the previous post. The PCV line should be routed directly to the vacuum tree in the center of the manifold for best results.
