Starter spins but will not turn flywheel
I have a 68 bronco with a 77 302 and manual tranny. My starter free spins when i turn the key i need to turn the key over and over again and on like the 15th to 18th try it kicks in and starts the truck. I pulled the starter and tested it, it was fine and it plundged out all the way(some dirt did come out of it but it still worked as it should) my flywheel as some minor damage on the outer edge of the teeth however it does not look bad enough to not start the truck, any help?
Thanks

The over run clutch is the cylinderical shaped thing just behind the bendix gear on the starter. Testing the starter electrically will not test for a bad clutch. Replacements usually come in a kit which includes a new bendix gear.
Normally when they go bad they are noisy (like gears not meshing properly) and then on the next try they will work.
However in your case it is the only thing I can think of.
