Roof Paint Pealing

I just got through painting the back section of my roof on my white 2000 EX. When I bought it about a year ago, I painted part of the gutters in the front that were rusting and I did not get around to the rear part of the gutters. Well the other day I was giving it a bath and saw some large patches of paint missing. Like maybe 6x6 in two different spots. The paint looks like it is fine but once it is broken and the water gets underneath it starts coming off like mad. At least I got to it, before it got to the parts you can see from the ground. I chipped all the loose stuff off sanded and painted with Duplicolor Oxford White. I had to take the roof rack off as well and I painted it also. The screws go all the way through the roof so you got to seal them. I used blue thread locker on them. I also have some problems around some of the doors. This is relatively easy to fix if you don't let of go too long.

My advice is if you have pealing paint especially on the roof you better take care of it. I need to work on the doors next. Hopefully, this will fix any paint problems for the next few years.

Mine did the exact same thing. It was bad. Rusting on the top rear. I have fixed the rear and almost done with the front. And still have one door jam to go. I'm just hitting it like u to get me by til I get the whole thing repainted in a few yrs.

Thanks, but I'm going to go for the patina look and just let the truck age naturally.

Well I am hopeing that I won't have to get it painted anytime soon. I think as long as I can keep it touched up it will be ok. Most places are going to paint over the existing paint anyway so you are back where you started. It seems to be a very hard thick durable paint. This can be a good thing to a point but not when it is on the roof subjected to heat, UV, and standing water as well as uneven surfaces like the roof gutters and door jams. The paint is brittle and cracks easily. When water gets in there it eats away at the bond between the primer and the paint. It looks like new other than the roof so I am not going to get real excited about it right now. I would like to have some sort of covered parking area though.
