VC-9 an EGR cooler fix?
Several have posted that following a coolant flush, that their degas puking issue was eliminated. Several more have posted that Ford's VC-9 flush results in charcoal black fluid coming out of the petcock.
Question: Is it likely (or even possible) that draining out all your old coolant, refilling with distilled a few times, and then refilling with distilled but adding VC-9 in with it for a flushing round actually removes the beginnings of the plugging of the EGR cooler? What about running VC-9 through twice - any harm done?

That is definably possible.
Suppose the oil / egr cooler is slightly plugged, it enters progressive death as coolant flow goes lower and lower, and as it does so, deposits build up in both coolers as coolant "flash off".
It would happen first in the EGR, then the oil cooler.
VC-9 will remove the deposits --- it is incredibly potent commercial grade boiler cleaner.
As the deposits are removed, the coolant flow is restored, and the "flash" and with that, excess pressure / steam generated from the system is stopped.
Good diagnosis, good hypothesis.
The physics support your analysis.
Too many people rush to dump EGR / Oil coolers before the diagnosis and cheap fixes are exhausted.
Or go right ahead to do ARPs....

not to scare ya but some have done a flush and plugged there oil cooler
the oil cooler is a great filter
check that thread where he reversed flushed the oil cooler it may work for you
I dont think it will work for everyone but yours might not be that far gone yet
get a coolant filter on it if you dont already
make shure oil cooler didnt get worse before you dump the ELC in

not to hyjack but im about to do the flush also being that upper radiator hose is leaking and the gummy stuff was stuck to the fan shroud. (runnin green at the moment) but when does the vc-9 go in. do i put it in now before i start the flush or drain it and then put it in and add water? also what coolant should i use. i was told cat coolant but dont really want that bill there price is high!

check my coolant in sig like 23.00 a gallon full strength
any ELC cat ec-1 rated thats why they make rating so we dont have to worrey about diffrent brands coolant they all test the same in a lab

it has the cat ec-1 rating looks good to me
FWIW it did have low silicate compared to Final charge was silicate free
some have said the high heat causes silicate dropout
the ford gold was probably full of silicates
Id go with it youl be fine

it was good to 600,000mi just needs an aditive at 300,000
the coolant you posted said something about an additive after awhile to
they look the same except one was low silicate and one was silicate free thats all I picked up on anyway
Im shure it will be ok either one is better than green coolant
