Scangauge

I'm thinking about buying a Scangauge. What do all of you suggest that I get? They have the long rectangle ones and the round ones, right? If I get one, will I be able to use it for multiple vehicles if I wish? Will it properly read Powerstroke codes?

I'm thinking about getting this because It'll let me know all of what's going on inside the vehicle and also will hopefully scan codes for me. I don't really know a whole lot about these things, so what do you guys think?

Aeroforce scan gauge will pull codes and a great addition to your truck. I'm sure Jim at rosewood can hook you up, Clay may have them too.

The round ones are expensive, but they work on the Powerstroke, can read codes, and run some tests. The rectangle ones are cheap, but are basic OBDII stuff so their capacity is very limited on the 7.3. I believe there are some hacks or something that will allow you to read some 7.3 data, but I don't know how much you can really use it for. You should be able to use either one on different vehicles.

My vote is for the round one. I got mine from Jim.

I am guessing you are asking about one of these?
ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool

A few guys have them and they work some. Not sure of the details.

This is what many more run including myself
Aeroforce Technology Inc | Products - Interceptor

It will work with the PSD including pull codes, cylinder contribution test and buzz test the injectors. I don't know about how many other vehicle it will work on. I beleive it might pull codes on any OBDII vehicle. I can say for sure that it a very useful on the road diagnostic tool as well as an everyday gauge.

Alright, so I ordered one of the round ones. Which parameters are most useful to display?

Not yet. Still looking. I'm really looking for the set as opposed to putting all of the pieces together myself. That's kind of a last resort. It's starting to seem like it will be my only option, though.

It's over toward the passenger side of the transmission hump, under the dash.

I like to use oil & trans temp, duty %, ICP pressure as the scaning display. You can program in more to scan. It will do rpm's, boost, volts, water temp, gear, etc., etc., etc. I don't need a few of my gauges now with the scan gauge, lol.
