Remanned tranny installed but same problem

Hey everyone
ok here's my story. 04 f 150 5.4 3V 4x4 4R75E. 112,000 miles. I was towing my boat home and had a hard clunk and felt like it fell into neuteral. O/d light flashing and trans fault on screen. Pulled over in park let idle as a checked for leaks or parts on the road. After 10 mins both warnings went out and truck drove home fine. Next time I get in put in drive and both warning lights come on. Dosent shift out of first gets to 1800 rpm big surge but still no power. 2500rpm to hit 40mph. Go get the codes read and this was the list.0731, 740, 743, 748, 750, 753, 755, 758 and 962.
Mechanic says trans is toast. I opted to buy a remanufactured tranny. Got the truck back today and lights still flashing and driving the same. Shop says PCM needs to re learn "new" trans and after driving it some it will get back to normal!

Did I get screwed over or is this possible? I appreciate any and all help with this.
thank you

Yea wtf? They should have cleared codes and drove it to "relearn" it. Somethings shady here.

I don't know what kind of shop you went to, how good the mechanics are or aren't, or what they did at that shop.

My own expectation is that after a shop "fixes" my car, they do not return the car to me with dash lights and diagnostic trouble codes. You say that you bought a remanufactured transmission. Did you buy it yourself and have the seller ship it to the shop? Or did the shop sell you a remanufactured transmission? Did the shop quote you a price, you paid the shop, and you have no idea if the transmission was a remanufactured transmission with a warranty, who remanufactured it, etc?

Assuming that the shop sold you a transmission, and installed it......I can't understand why they did not hook up a code reader to clear the codes.

Did I get screwed over or is this possible?
I don't want to think the worst; that your shop is stealing from you and screwing you. I know a guy out in the middle of nowhere, kind of near Pelican Bay State Prison, who is very good with a wrench. If I was out at California's most remote prison, as a visitor, not a guest of The State, and my car broke down......this is the guy I would call. In his boondock world, it's like Mayberry. This guy is "Gomer Pyle". He would have done the same thing. Ordered a remanufactured transmission, and installed it. It requires what? Unplug electrical harness, remove bolts, remove old transmission? Put the new tranny in? This guy I know would do a beautiful job. Stuff that nobody else would do, mostly because it's not necessary, and no other mechanic has that kind of time to waste. All new grade 8 fasteners. Tap & die to clear out all of the old threads. Most shops wouldn't even bother with a squirt of WD-40 before sticking the old bolts back in. New seals and gaskets to ensure that you don't have any leaks. Most shops wouldn't even install a new drain plug gasket when they change your oil. He would even steam off the underside and engine, so that you could look under and see nice, clean, shiny truck........but he wouldn't know how to do anything with your check engine light, wrench light, transmission fault light......he doesn't do anything as it relates to cars' computers. He's just an old guy, who is great with a wrench, and doesn't know anything technical. Sort of like my dad. Doesn't own a computer in the shop. Doesn't have code readers. Doesn't care about clearing codes, resetting the adaptive learning table, et cetera.

WHOA!!!
I bought the transmission and had it shipped to a shop that the company had shipped to before and got good reviews on.
I did some research in this shop as well and found 95% good things about them. Im starting to question thst decision know obviously

That rules out the possibility that a shady shop charged you for a remanufactured transmission, then installed a "junk yard find" into your truck. Stuff like that happens.

The only thing I question is the part where they didn't hook up a computer to the truck........

All those codes seem to be related to the harness connector pin outs. I think you may have a harness wiring or connector issue. Check all the wiring going to the transmission first for heat melt, wear through and corrosion before blaming the TCM.

They are wrong. If the light is still flashing it means the problem that is setting the code is still present. While it is true that there is some learning going on, all that is learned is shift feel, i.e., how hard or soft the shifts are. It doesn't learn the new trans to clear the codes.

Without talking to them I can't tell if the shop is lying or incompetent. But I'll bet your problem is that they are one or both of those.

Now that you've spent the money on the remanned trans, you need someone that can diagnose the original problem, which is still present in your truck. I'll bet the place you took it can't do it, but maybe I'm wrong. It is most likely a damaged wiring harness.

Ok heres an update. Got to the shop before they opened and the actual manager was there and was very apologetic and upset that his guys sent me home with the truck that way. The senior diagnostic guy wasnt there apparently throughout my whole repair but will be back monday. He agrees that its more than likely electrical and will have his guy on it first thing monday and only charging half the hourly rate to make up for their mistake.
Its on me for taking first guys opinion on trans being broken and buying a remanned before getting a good diagnostic job done. Ive learned an expensive lesson and will not make same mistake again.
Hopefully its not to big of a job.
Thanks guys for your input and advise

The 1 competent guy, in the whole shop, and the manager, were out to lunch.

After looking at a wiring diagram; I suggest checking Fuse #33-15amp in the central junction box. It may be blown. That fuse feeds transmission as well as O2 sensor heater circuit.
