460 to M-6007 M-50 5.0 Swap into a 1997 F-350 possible?

So the more I think about building my 460, the more I'm considering just doing a major swap, like the new 5.0. First of all, is it possible? (motor mounts, bell housing, etc) And if so, I'm thinking I could have almost the same torque, 2x the HP, and a MUCH more efficient engine that would probably get around 14 - 16mpg in my F-350. Would it be stupid? Or should I just spend the 6k that I would on a 5.0 crate on the 460 and have an insane 460. What I like about the 5.0 is it's just plain more efficient...4 valves per cylinder, heavier duty bottom end, piston cooling jets, etc... What are you guys' opinions? Pros and cons please

My guess is you'd wish you never heard of the 5.0 about half way through such an endeavor.

I'd just bring the 460 up to date.

ymmv.

it's not an easy swap anyway shape or form. You will be changing EVERYTHING. and I mean EVERYTHING, including wiring (all of it) transmission, not only motor mounts but you probably will have otmodify the perches. And I thought I heard somewhere that even the radiator will have the wrong inlet outlet.

Cummins swap would be easier ...maybe even more cost effective; however, I'm considering options as well for my 97 crew (460)

Wait a minute You did the AEM conversion right! I read a few threads you posted in, that system opens alot of options.... I myself am motivated to do a 460 build up and use a stand alone. Why the change of heart

According to my last dyno i'm at 341 wtq and 210 whp. That's bone stock other than the AEM SEFI conversion.
First run:

second

Final fun. Think I could gain at least another 10/10 if I didn't have stock exhaust manifolds. picked up a lot of low end torque by adding about 4 degrees of timing down low.

So is this with just a base line tune or did someone (or yourself) tune the truck with AEM. With that system I would think injectors, fuel pumps, T-body, some port work.....heads & intake (nothing major) decent valve job and a cam....and headers over 300+RWHP would be a easy day.

Yeah after i converted it i tuned it myself....i wouldn't ever let anyone think about tuning my precious 460!

Yeah i'm thinking all the above plus roller everything should get me close to 400. The thing about the 460 is it's got the potential but it's just so choked down!! All I gotta do is get the torque to keep going instead of dropping off around 3k rpm and i think it'd make some serious power
