I have a 95 F-250 7.3 powerstroke with 5-speed manual transmission. Almost impossible to get into reverse with engine running and very hard to get into 1st gear. The clutch doesn't seem to be slipping at all. Once in gear the truck doesen't try to move. No problems starting engine with truck in gear. I pulled off clutch cover on bell housing and watched everything move and it looked ok. I was wondering how far the slave cylinder is supposed to move with pedal fully depressed. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Sounds like the clutch isnt releasing fully. Worn clutch pedal pivot bushings could cause it, Air in hydralic system, bad master cyl or worn clutch come to mind. When dooes the clutch engage as you release it.. pedal real close to floor?
Bashby has everything covered. Look under the dash at the clutch pedal linkage and check for worn bushings. While there look for any signs of fluid on the firewall where the clutch pedal pushrod goes through. If any found replace the master cylinder.
Solved.......Bushing that connects clutch pedal to master cylinders is busted. Rotated 90 degrees and it works as normal. Heading to get a new one now. Thanks for your help guys.............
