It's COMPLETE, Microsoft SYNC in 2008 F-350

What many said could not be done, has been seamlessly integrated into my 2008 f-350 king ranch.

I started with a stock 2008 KR. that contained the older style factory nav unit.

I wanted to upgrade the unit, and maintain the factory look to the newer 2011 style nav units, and add iPod integration, Bluetooth phone support, reverse camera, etc.

With the help of a user of this forum, I was able to do just that.

I purchased a 2011 headunit on eBay, as well as the reverse camera/tailgate handle.

All of the programming/and custom harnesses (harnesses all contain factory connections for a PLUG AND PLAY install, the harness are all wire loomed and taped and look just like ford OEM).

THE GUY REALLY DOES SOME QUALITY WORK WITH ALL OEM PARTS! his tech support is second to none, and he always answered the phone when I called with a question.

The parts I needed to do the entire swap:

Rearview mirror with mic and display

Both left and right steering wheel control buttons

Steering wheel harness

Sync module

2011 head unit

Amplifier for head unit

Externally mounted OEM GPS/Sirius antenna and splitter cable

Tailgate camera/handle

Custom plug and play harness'

I am also sure there is some other pars I am missing.

If anyone has any questions, PM me and I will share both my experience and his contact information.

I don't see justification for the time or money spent on this project. To each his own, but do you actually use that stuff? I have never used a GPS. I don't own an iPod. I have never need a backup camera or sensors. I don't have a cell phone that has BlueTooth capability. I just don't see it.

I use every feature of it. Therefore the justification for me was there.

If you don't use any of it, then this thread does not apply to you.

Sounds cool. I like the SYNC system.

I have only needed a backup camera once. The $300 I had to pay to fix the guys bumper could have easily paid for one.

The back up camera alone is worth it. Parking lots aren't made for CC longbox trucks! The nav is great to. Had other gps and the ford nav is way superior IMO. Haven't got used to bluetooth yet but I will have to learn. Will be the law here by summer to be handsfree everywhere.

Sorry forgot one question. Seeing you sound like an expert, did you install a lockpick on your nav. I've read you can install this so the co-pilot can run your nav while your driving.

I used all those features on the aftermarket head unit I installed. Do you NEVER go anyplace new? GPS can be very handy. Also, in Oregon it's illegal to talk on cell phones when driving, so BlueTooth is a must. The backup sensors make parallel parking sooo much easier, no worry about how close you are, and a camera would be even better.

That sounds pretty cool. I like the keeping it factory aspect. I bought my truck used and somebody had already gone nuts at the Alpine store.

I would really like to add the backup camera to my truck. Mainly for hooking up the trailer by myself. Beside the wife does not know her left from right while I am backing.

I use my Sync all the time and so does my wife. She wants an Explorer now just so she can have it in her car.

Dents in the bumper are normal, it's a truck.

Agreed!! I just park at the very back of the lot away from the other cars or in two spaces, in order to give plenty of space to swing the wheels.

I don't talk on the phone while driving. I generally hate the phone. In Texas, it is only illegal to talk on the phone in school zones. As far as traveling, I plan my route beforehand, and I use a road atlas if need be.
