Tranny issue on 06-07 6.0

Just got a call from one of the kids, they were just ramping up speed to 100kms when the engine speed increased to around 4000 on the tach and no they didn't have the foot into it ( I thought that too ha ha ) and the truck rolled to a halt while still in drive, as I understand there is no froward or reverse movement, the truck is still running,no fluids on the ground no smoke, etc. Any ideas I can forward to them to try or are they in the tough luck category and looking for a tow. Thanks for the help.

& check the shifter linkage. Look at drives shafts and try 4wd if equipped.

It could be the pump, or a broken shaft, or many other mechanical parts. There is no way it's a solenoid or anything else electronic. This is a mechanical failure all the way.

I agree 100%. Once again, Mark Kovalsky posts THE BEST and most sensible answers to any technical support type question. Although I am surprised by this post. The Torqshift transmissions have been overall quite bulletproof compared to the 4R100 units they replaced.
