tranny fluid leakage, damaged tranny?

Hi guys, total newbie question here: My girlfriend didn't notice a hole in her transmission cooler hose and drove the truck until it died. Hose is repaired, truck does move, but I do not dare to go far with it. How can I tell if there's damage to the transmission?

BTW, it's a 95 F250 HD with 80K miles on it, automatic. TIA
