Question diesel capacity for '94 F350

I recently bought fuel at a station that billed me for 54 gallons of diesel!? I am prety sure my '94 F350 with two tanks holds only 39 gallons max. Can someone confirm my fuel capacity and maybe steer me to a site with specs I can print out to prove this to the seller? Or am I just confused on my capacity?

thanks, Mark

Actually it's 37 gallons. Front tank 19 gallons, rear 18 gallons. Did you just buy the truck? Maybe the previous owner added a larger aftermarket tank to the truck.

The listed capacity of your tanks is 19.0/front, and 18.7/rear. They'll actually hold a little more than that, but nowhere near what they charged you for. If the front tank is absolutely dry, you can put 22.0 gallons in it, and the rear, if absolutely dry, will hold 21.
The probability of an aftermarket tank makes good sense. A 40 gallon rear tank, and your stock tank up front would put you in the ballpark.

Thanks for the quick responses!

No, it is not an aftermarket tank, but the two stock tanks. At one time I had the specs in hand, but have loaned them or lost them. I was sure it was something like 39 gallons, and in the year I've owned the truck have never put more than 32 gallons in it, and that was with both gauges touching the red line (empty). On the advice of the previous owner, I never let either tank get lower than the red line, although I know this leaves a few gallons. As he owned fourteen of the F series rucks, nearly all with diesels, I have tried to abide his thinking.

Thanks again, Mark

Just so you'll know, if I'm on the freeway, once the needle touches the red, I've still got 60 miles left before the tank runs completely dry. 50 miles around town. I do this regularly, just trying to increase my range. In July we drove from Seattle to Reno, 825 miles, without stopping for fuel. 100 of those miles were with the needle in the red: 60 on the front tank before switching, and another 40 on the rear tank before reaching Reno. When we got there, she took 42 gallons.

You got to watch the pump jockeys especially those who practice english as a second language.
I have had two arguments over how much fuel I have put in my tank where the amounts are being registered inside the office or booth. Both times they tried to bill me for the previous customer's amount plus mine.
The amount of fuel was more than the truck would hold. I paid for mine only and told the attendant to call a cop if he wanted to collect the rest.
