My V10 Has A Bad Miss

Driving towards home, from work this afternoon my V10 somehow as developed a very bad miss. In my 8 mile drive home I thought was I was going to get stranded. Even at idle you can feel it's running very rough. During acceleration is the worst. It feels like power is coming on and off and just moving me back and forth in the front seat. When the motor picked up rpms and traveling over 65mph the miss would be gone. No engine light came on and was wondering what would cause this? Looks like it's going in the shop next week. Thanks

Mike

Plugs, COP's, boots?

How many miles on the truck and have you replaced any of those?

that is what I'm going to have the mechanic check. Plugs, COP's boots haven't been changed ever since I've owned this truck. When I bought it, it had 80K and now I'm at 140K.

You should get them changed. You don't know if the previous owner changed them. If not, they're way overdue. You can DIY from great instructions in this forum. If you have someone else do them, make sure they follow the procedures outlined here. If not, you could get the dreaded plug spitting issue.

This bit of advice is very VERY much spot on! There is more than enough info to first scare the pants off your DIY self BUT also enough info to learn how this task is done properly! Even in the V-8 forums (which I happen to own one of) there are many first hand experiences with suggestions that it doesn't seem so daunting as it first appears. Mind you it sucks up a lot of time but after that first time its almost fun-----well if you like slow torture along with a huge dose of pride in a job well done that is!

Let us know if you tackle this yourself or farm it out---costs would be nice to compare too!

Good luck!
