Exterior mirror question

I have an 06 E150 with manual exterior mirrors. They are the type with a flat and blind spot mirror in one. The lower (curved) mirror will not hold its adjustment. I see on the 08 and newer vans, the mirror is now one piece. My question is will a mirror from an 08 or newer fit on an 06? It looks like it would, but I'd hate to buy a new mirror and find that it doesn't fit.

Beginning in '02 I believe the outside mirrors used a four bolt mounting base that should be the same all the way up through your model years. I have several sets of the dual element OEM power mirrors non-telescoping types. Their mounting system seems to be the same.

If you'd like to replace your existing types they're everywhere on eBay plus I have my sets for sale too. Changing to the one piece may be of interest too since they're less prone to your situation. I've had the dual element styles and the larger head pedestal based standard mirrors but find myself preferring the "older" one piece types. If these were powered they'd be perfect!

Hope this helps!

Lots of replacement mirrors on ebay. I just ordered a new set of powered telescoping towing mirrors for my 2010 E350 for $203 a pair. They are not OEM, so I hope the quality is OK. A factory set of mirrors is around $700 from Ford. Eeeek!

I just looked at the on-line at the 11 models. The trailer mirrors are the same as my 03, (and your '06) convex mirror on the bottom (mine is power). Too bad your bottom isn't holding, that seems odd. I'd stay with the same mirror, great for blind spots. Look on ebay or craigslist for a good used one.

Go to rock auto.com.

I just bought a mirror (power) for the 06 E250 van for $50.00 delivered. The manual one's are cheaper.

Granted they are cheap, made in Tiawan mirrors, but they fit.

It's replacing a mirror bought in fall 07 from them.

I'm having the same problem with my mirrors losing adjustment, especially the spot mirror. It is a real pain in the neck.

The lower blind spot mirrors are terrible because they won't hold their adjustment. Since Ford went back to a one piece mirror in 2008, I assume they know there was a problem. What I would like to do is buy a one piece mirror for an 08 and mount it on my 06. I would then get a 3 inch round peel and stick blind spot mirror. I just want to be sure the 08 mirror will fit on an 06 door. It should if the doors haven't been changed from 06 to 08.

I believe the doors are unchanged from '03 forward---requiring the four bolt mounting. Looking at the mirror bases its easy to see the differences but even the '92-'02 doors can be drilled to accommodate the later mirrors---I've done it myself several times. Not the most fun of projects but if you want a different mirror head its necessary sometimes.

I've kept the larger pedestal mounted flag shaped mirrors but replaced the glass with new and added heat for those frosty or icy days. Since I'm in the glass/windshield biz this mod can be done for no more than $25 a side after all the wiring is completed. Another no so fun project but kinda cool and so worth it once done!

Back from the dead....

Found this and several other helpful posts on adding extending towing mirrors to my '04 E350. My question is this - the sources I've found (RockAuto, PartsTrain, and Discount Auto Mirrors) all show the same mirror.

Does anybody make a mirror for this application that includes the side marker/blinker lights like the ones that are on the F series trucks?

TIA.

I've never seen one. If you do find one you'd need to figure out how to get the turn signal wiring into the mirror wiring harness.
