OBD II Not Linking

I have the Actron OBD II analyzer and I can't get it to link up with my truck. It is a 2007 F250 6.0 PSD and the scanner comes on and after I select "read codes" it says "linking" for about a minute and then says "link error".
Just tried it on my Tahoe and Jeep and it works perfectly. So my question is, are the newer Ford trucks compatable with the OBD II system.
P.S. I checked it with the key on, and also with it running.

Is your truck powering up the scanner or are you turning it on then plugging it in? The only reason I ask is because I had the same issue and mine it was simply a blown fuse for the obd II port, (it also kills the lower cigar lighter). Sometimes it's the simple things, good luck, Adam

Mine powers up after plugging it in to the port. Its an older model and that's the only way it can be powered.
Thanks for the hint.

There are many hand held scanners that don't support the CAN bus that the 6.0L uses for PCM diagnostic communications. If this is the first time you are trying it on your truck that is most likely the problem.

All 1996-on vehicles in the US use ODB-II. However, starting around the 2004 model year, Ford started using the updated CAN communications protocol for PCM communications. Older scanners that do not support CAN are obsolete for the newer vehicles.

Another common issue is that most scanners also expect to receive battery power on pin 16 of the OBDII port. Ford tends to slave this power source off the cigar lighter fuse, so make certain that circuit is hot.

That scanner is not compatible with Ford Powerstrokes. Don't waste your time trying to get it to work. It's not going to happen.
