I much prefer RWD handling in all conditions to FWD. Put a few hundred pounds in the F150 and drive cautiously.

your welcome to your opinion. i'm just going by personal experience. with any of my trucks with good snow tires i cant get out of my driveway in 2wd. now all my friends with FWD cars and snow tires have no issues.

you can see this around town here also...very hilly and if you ever see a 2wd truck(which is rare) they are normally holding up traffic because they cant get going at the light.

i'll stick by what i said. fwd is better then rwd in snow/ice conditions. its easier to pull then it is to push... something to think about.

^^I think the real reason is that the pickup doesn't have any weight over the rear axle whereas a fwd car has weight over its' drive axle. I have 4wd, so it doesn't matter \

The tires make all the difference too. I keep chains in the truck during the winter, but with my BFG Commercial Terrains, I haven't had to use them, even in deep snow and ice.

i'd have to agree that its the weight over the wheels that make the biggest difference. my truck has no problem in two wheel drive if i load up the bed. i'm no stranger to snow either.

^^ Yep weight is the MAJOR key... FWD has a majority of weight over axle whereas a pickup has little weight over axle... Add weight over axle and that 2wd will track and dig well. FWD is an equalizer in that it allows in-experienced drivers to negotiate poor road conditions. If you are an experienced driver either will get you where you want to go. Also depends on depth of snow... Ground clearance is also a plus on a pickup... 3plus inches of snow and that FWD car is not going anywhere well.

It comes down to preference and experience. Personally I hate FWD. I like RWD, 4WD, AWD....
