Aftermarket iron heads?

Looking for a set of aftermarket iron heads for a 460 based engine. Building a truck pulling engine, and the class only allows iron heads. Found some info on EX-514 and Blue Thunder heads. Anyone had experience with these heads? Need something to compete with the BBC's with Dart and Merlin heads. If all else fails I may end up running DOVE heads with porting work done on them.

while those are great iron heads, i believe that they are no longer in production. and they go for a preety dollar when they do come up for sale.

the choices you have for aftermarket iron heads these days are basically limited to the revised D3VE heads that re-incarnation automotive sells. they are based on the production D3 heads but feature revised and improved intake and exhaust ports. check out his site for info on them.

the other option is factory heads and the cobra jet heads, casting DOOE are the highly saught after ones for these classes and therefor go for a premium because of this. the next best are the D2OE police interceptor heads followed by the DOVE/C8 and C9 (all basically the same) and the D3VE heads.

the 385 series has lots of great aftermarket aluminum heads for any power level you want, but virtually no iron heads are available. time for people to start bugging BLue thunder to run a batch of the iron heads again.

Im in a similar situation here. I actually prefer the iron heads. They are heavy yes, but in a 65 truck, 50 lbs isnt gonna break the bank. Whereas the extra money will, or at least will make the wife unhappy.
