Octane for 1986 460

I did a search but did not find the answer to a question. I am putting a 1986 carburated 460 new long block with an edelbrock manifold and 750 cfm carb. The engine block is stock except for the over size machining during rebuild and an RV cam.

When I am done can I run 87 Octane gas in the truck.

Short answer Yes... Octane rating should be read as nothing but anti-knock/pinging rating (ie pre-ignition)... High compression ratio, advance timing well beyond stock, ect.. are why people have to run a higher octane fuel....
