F250LD Front Hub Replacment Question
Hey Guys
Have to replace my LF hub on my 1999 F250LD 4x4. The hub no doubt failed prematurely from my first attempt to remove the rotors (read beat the hell out of the LF rotor before I realized only way it was coming off is if I cut it).
With that memory stuck in my head I have to wonder, will the hub also be frozen on much the same way as the rotor was to the hub?
I have a nice assortment of hub pullers, but naturally nothing that will remotely come close to mounting to the 7 lug flange.
So what's my best bet here? Can I help drive the hub outwards by partially un threading the hub bolts and beating them "in"?
Thanks Guys
Tommy

if the F250 is the same as the F150 design, its not that hard of a job. There are three bolts on the backside that hold the hub into the spindle bore. The bore fitting is not that tight. Getting the three bolts out can be a pain.. loosen the axle nut and push inward an inch to get the CV joint away from the bolt heads... next is will the axle spline move insdie the hub bore. sometimes you need a press to push it out, somtimes just a good push or small smack will poke it out.. clean the spliines and antisieze prior to reinstall.

So from the sounds of things the splines on the CV joint/Hub is the stickler. I figured it would be where the hub physically attaches to the spindle.
Got to love the rust on this Ford. I mean my backing plates even rotted away.
Neither my 86 or 88 had problems like this.
Don't even get me started out on my rotted out lower doors.

Hub replacement went smoothly this AM. Did not remove caliper from bracket as those bolts are so nasty I couldn't tell (or remember!) if they were allen or torx.
The 3 15mm hub attachment bolts came right out with a thinwall socket and 1/2 swivel head ratchet.
Axle as loose in the hub splines, but as I imagined the hub was not having out of the spindle without some effort. Beating the hub with a BFH only resulted in the hub beginning to separate. Air hammer used carefully and plenty of PB blaster got the hub out right quick.
Tons of anti seize on re-assembly. That stuff made short work of the rotor removal this time around, thank God!
Nice to drive a quiet truck again.
