I do notice less electrical draw compaing the 6.0 with 2 Batteries ,,to the V-10 w/ one Battery,,Having lights on, heater, using the plow,,the lights really dimmed and heater slowed alot more,,,I did like plowing with the V-10,,even with the 6-sp standard,,,R__1st were both up on the Gate, was easy, conveient to shift, except for the ocassional stall,,(opps), was responsive, no lag,,Pro's and Cons on Both.

That's interesting, here diesel went above regular in the late 90's as I recall, we had to pay the milkhaulers a fuel surcharge to pick up our milk. Now diesel is .30-.40 higher than reg. gas or .05 +/- of premium. Diesel at that cost difference would have made my decision between the 6.2 or 6.7 much harder.

Well, made it to Arcadia, Louisiana towing the Airstream with headwinds, rain, and lots of semi's; are we having fun yet? First leg averaged 8.4 mpg from Bountiful, UT to Mesa, AZ and looks like about the same from Mesa to Las Cruces, to Midland, to Arcadia. I also did about 1,000 miles solo from Mesa to Victorville, CA on business and did my normal 80-85 mph and 10.7 mpg. That $4.40+ gas is not fun. Here in Louisiana the 89 octane is going for $3.70 and regular is $3.35. We are here for 3 more days and then on to Mobile and then Tallahassee. So far the 8.4 mpg towing seems to be the norm, doing 65-70.

Following with interest planning on a Anchorage to DC drive this year and back with a moving trailer (estimating 9000-11000 pounds) not looking forward to fuel cost! Put if off for a couple years now but have to do it this summer/fall.

I did the actual calculations for my towing portion of this trip so far: 2162 miles and used 256.6 gallons. Comes out to a little over 8.4 mpg. The dry weight of my Airstream is 9100 lbs, so with water and all of our crap, I know it's got to be close to 10,000 lbs.

My solo mileage was 1589 miles and 169 gallons = 9.4 mpg, but that was doing 85 and sometimes headwinds and lots of hills or stop/go in California traffic. I usually get around 11 with my lead foot so this was somewhat below my normal.

Pap I get about the exact same gas mileage as you do. Between 8 and 9 while towing seems to be the norm. I can't wait to hitch up the camper, I am tired of winter.

Made it to Tallahassee, Florida last night on the last leg east. Will stay here for a few days and then turn west again. This last leg from Arcadia, LA to Tallahassee was 800 miles and took 93.6 gallons = 8.6 mpg. I'm a little surprised that it went up some as the winds were terrible yesterday and alot of up and down "hills" in North Florida along I-10, but still not bad with the cruise control on 70.

By the way, we stopped over at Gulf Shores, AL for 2 days to do the beach thingy and ate at the Oyster House (fantastic) and at Lamberts (unbelievable). I'd go back there just for the food. Nice beaches and a fun town.
