1951 Ford F7
I have a 1951 ford F7 fire truck with 13000 miles. This truck has been sitting for many years (25). I just about have the engine freed up and am looking for hydraulic wheel cylinders. according to the shop manual, the front are 1 1/4" ( 7EQ2061 ) and the rear are 1 5/8" ( 8Q2261B ) with 15x5 aluminum shoes and have an odd mounting arrangement. The master cylinder is 1 1/2"( 7EQ2140 ). What I need help is finding current part number replacements (wagner, eis, bendix) or just rebuild kits if they are rebuildable. I can't find any catalogs that old that show part numbers. I would like to have the parts before I pull wheels. Can anyone help? Has anyone done this before so I know what to expect.
Thanks

Welcome to the group. Glad to have you. For F-7 parts and advice I'd suggest Chuck Mantiglia of Chuck's Trucks. He has both an F-7 and F-8, so knows them well. Below is his link. Another good source of parts is Job Lot Automotive in New York. I'll add their link too. Stu

Charlie,
I did the brakes on my 51 F7 a few years ago. Chuck will be a big help. I was able to buy new front wheel cylinders but the backs had to be resleeved. I sent them to a company that I won't name because they started leaking again 6 months later. They came with a lifetime
warranty they will not pay for any labor charges ... so I had to pay someone to change them again. Be careful when you remove the shoes. One of my springs broke and it was hard to find a replacement. One FTE member was nice enough to send me one extra that he had. You might think about rebuilding the brake booster and that way the whole system will work properly. I also went to a local brake relining shop and had the shoes relined. If you need more info send me a PM and I will give you my #.
Good luck,
Keith
