Hi, I'm redoing the rear brakes on my 56 f-100. My question is on the emergency brake cable that comes through brake backing plate. Is there a good or easy way to release the flutted securing piece that keeps the cable secured to plate? It looks kinda like a big ferrule. Sorry no pix.
Thanks
Try opening up and installing a small metal hose clamp, just slightly larger than the outside dia. of the spring area you described..slide the clamp over, tighten it evenly and pull the cable from the backing plate, you should be good to go. Good Luck!
It's been a while since I removed my cables, but I think I used a 1/2" drive 12 point socket that I slipped over the cable. Sorry don’t remember what size the socket was. Mike
