How's the Job Markets/Economy Doing in Texas?
Hey Ya'll,
I was just wondering how the job market is doing in Texas? I'm looking for an electronics communications related job but am not finding anything in Oklahoma, so my search is spreading to all the lower 48 states. I'd love to hear about lots of jobs available in Dallas, Austin, and Houston.
Thanks,
-Ron

I live west of San Antonio and in your profession there isn't much available. Avoid Austin if you can- traffic is impossible, absolute worst I've ever seen. Houston is smog clogged. They have so much smog we get it over here and I'm 350 miles west. Hope something comes up for you in Dallas. Nice city. If you can change professions, there are a lot of openings in SA. The better paying jobs you will find via a headhunter.

I heard on the local news this morning that our unemployment rate in our county is 3.5% and the nearby counties are about the same. HOWEVER, if you are not in the oilfield or farming, there's not much available, either. When you get down in the Dallas, San Antonio, Houston area, there is more variety. They also have more traffic, smog, people , and all the headaches that come with it.

Tech jobs are hard to come by in Austin. The few that come up are nabbed by some over-qualified ex-california transplant that would not leave Austin after he got laid-off.
I'm lucky to sill have a good job. But, since the market is so bad, they know we are stuck and it's starting to show in the work-load.
Good Luck. Dallas and Houston are better bets.
