FYI - Bigfoot Replica Build Thread!

There is a very cool build going on at Midwest 4WD's Facebook page. From the description, a guy out of NY hired them to build an exact replica of BigFoot #1 using his stock 79 Ford truck. I can't tell what model truck they are using....

You shouldnt need a Facebook account in order to view this, but it makes it a lot easier to scroll through the pics. If you do not have facebook, you will need to click on each thumbnail then go back to click on any others. Enjoy!

While I would say it is a waste of $$, that doesn't take from the fact that I think it is just plain cool

I just have trouble with the fact they started with a 2WD frame, why not look a little for a F250 like the original. Otherwise some nice fab work.

I was thinking that it is sad to see what looks like a very nice original looking lariat xlt with two tone deluxe paint and the original interior looked very nice get cut up like that. Why not start with a some crappy f250 4wd with a blown motor and rotted panels. They are for sale like that all the time out here in St Louis. With this guys budget I am sure body work would not add that much more. Just my opinion.

thats hard because there is no such thing as a crappy f250...even with no motor and rotted panels its still faster and better looking then a chevy

It was some "rich" guy's truck and he wanted "HIS" truck to be a Bigfoot clone, that's why this truck is getting the work done.

77 owner: Maybe crappy is the wrong word, how about "well seasoned".

Bullitt390: Having money and having sense apparently are not the same thing.

All I am saying is it is a shame to see a clean fairly uncommon truck like that cut up to make a bigfoot wannabe. Especially when there are tons of more common candidates around.

Kind of like taking a Boss 302 mustang and cutting it up to make a prostreet car.

To each his own I say....

You can't rag on someone because they have money. Since when does someone that has aquired wealth get berated in this good ol' USA?

You can't rag on someone because the have differing plans to do something than you would. Lets assume he is well off. Better yet lets assume you were. Wouldnt you want something as cool and unique as BIGFOOT sitting in your garage? Is that not better than some standard off ths shelf truck? The guy probably has an even nicer all stock truck. Who knows?

All I am saying is, better that "something" is being done with it than going to the crusher one day. You need to realize that of the 350Million + people in this country...maybe a couple thousand have the interest that we do in these trucks. This guy happens to be one of us. Im sure once nicer trucks than this are sitting out in the woods rotting away because the person that has it does not know there are people that want it.

Having sense? Why would he pay MORE to have all the body work done on a rusty truck when it is not needed on the truck he already has? Sure he may have money, but pissing it away for no reason makes LESS sense...

While I do love our old dents - I too have no issue cutting them up. There are lots of them out there.

Funny you chimed in Chase. When I was looking at the part were the frame was being boxed in and the fab work being done to the frame, I thought about your thread on here.

I understand to each there own,...etc. MY point was it was sad to see a nice looking lariet xlt get cut up. There are tons of low option trucks in which to play with. What I mean by cutting up is any mod that can't easily be reversed. It is his truck and he may have 50 of them just like it but it still is a nice higher option truck getting cut up. As far as body work if he is going to copy bigfoot it will have to have a lot of body work anyways. Believe me I like all dents, lowered, raised, show, stock, mud bog, rock climbing, desert truck, low rider, drag racing,...etc. It doesn't matter. I am not against a bigfoot wannabe, It is going to look good but I still think a base truck should be used. MY point is it would these trucks are not getting any less scarce and I think we should do are part in preserving them so we came enjoy them. I maybe wrong but I think more custom, and low option trucks are out there instead of lariet xlt's.
