Aftermarket Back up Cameras

A good customer of mine had a brand new 2010 that he wanted TWO backup cameras on; the first, stock unit that had a camera installed in the tailgate and displayed on the nav/radio screen when the truck was put into reverse. Then, he wanted a second one on the back of his fifth wheel that would display on the same screen. Well, long story short, there was just no way we could get that to work, maybe someone who is really good with computer programming, but not our service department! What we did was this: we got a stock camera and "Ford" oval that would be the replacement units for the ones already on his truck, and then he had the company was in the process of building his fifth wheel install them and run the wires from the camera in the back to the front, so they could be connected to the truck. Then, we got him a rearview mirror for an Escape with the backup camera display that is part of the mirror, and wired the camera to that. I forget how we turned it on and off, I think just with an upfitter switch, but it worked pretty slick. I'm pretty sure you could do the same thing w/ an

Surf to www.rvcams.com, pick whatever system you like and mount under the tailgate. Protected, safe, and works well. Problem solved without complex engineering.
