Thanks Ray. Life seems to get hectic every now and again and now that our daughter is a little older (18mo) I'm hoping I'll have more time to get back into fixing the truck.

Fitting 65 mustang buckets to 51 F1!

Here are pictures of the brackets that I fabricated to install a 65 mustang bucket seat in my 51 F1. The passenger side is occupied by a dog bed on the floor. I made it out of 10 gauge plate with 1/8" angle iron. I contoured the back around the tank. The rise is about 10 inches and is high enough to not require a sun visor. You might want to go 8-8.5 in of rise. I hope that this is helpful.

I used buckets out of a 1987 Astro Van. I used 2x2 square tubing for mounting to the floor. It had the standard mounting brackets that attached to a flat floor so it has the correct angle for driving comfort. That was the one thing I wanted to make sure of when I started looking. Ranger seats had all kinds of weird angles on the ends, but the Astro seats mount flat so the bracket engineering requirement is simple.

I used seats out of a Dodge Caravan and recovered them with marine vinyl. Wish I had better pictures. ,

I sat my 240 pounds on these for 60,000 miles and they are still comfortable.
