I was wondering if anybody has installed buckets seats in their 51 ford. I have a f-6 coe and was wondering what seats would work the best. I have relocated the gas tank out of the cab and onto the frame. I am also looking for a 8 foot 1951-52 truck bed.
Well not exactly installed but close. The first pix are my Intrepid seats. The rest are from this site but forget who. I believe that you can use any bucket but the thinner the back the better.

You can expand your search cause '48-52 used the same 8' bed on F2/F3 pickups.

A COE with the engine hump in the center of the floor may prove a bit more difficult to fit seats into than a flat-floored pickup. The original seats in a COE were buckets, of sorts. They just didn't call them that back then. Plus, since everyone's backside is a bit different, you might do better to take some careful measurements and visit your local wrecking yard and sit in a few. Find one that's comfortable and check your numbers to see if it'll fit.

I used late model Chrysler 300 leather buckets seats. To get the correct height, I cut a set of Ford Aerostar van seat risers in the middle and added a small piece to mount the seats on. Mel

Hey Mickey / Mel, welcome to the site, but no pictures, no proof huh? (just pullin’ your chain) but we do like pictures, because quite a few of us can’t read!
I used Doge mini van risers (for the drawer) also with a piece cut out of the center but did use Aerostar (good idea on your part) in a previous project.
I fabricated a frame for the seats on mine. If you have welding skills you could build a frame out of 1x1 square tube which would solve the hump problem. Mine are out of a 300zx. There is a pic of it on a thread I started yesterday call "how much is it worth" Hope that helps.
I put Mustang II seats in my '52 F-1 without the headrest trying to make them look like a '60's style bucket seats. When I got it there were tall back buckets seats sitting on top of a wood platform. I eventually modified an origional frame to mount the seats on.
May I suggest seats out af a big truck. I drove a bus a few years back and the truck seats seam to all bolt to a flat floor and have amazing adjustability. The one in my bus wasn't an air seat like most but it adjusted up and down 6" or more and all sorts of other adjustments. The seat belts on some are also built in. After saying that you may have trouble finding some but I still think they would be worth it. Especially a COE with air shock seats.
Ah um, Mickey / Mel tacked on to an older (Feb.) thread (not always such a good idea) and now you two are also answering it, ……but it could help when the seat archeologists come digging someday.

Ha ha!! Probribly doesn't help that I haven't been on the forum in what seems like years.
