6.7 Coolant Filter...
what about the 6.7's...I have a 2015 6.7, amid all my reading preparing to get rid of EGR and emissions I'm reading about people doing coolant filters due to casting sand ect. My truck has 13k now, is a coolant filter really necessary or just another better safe than sorry?
Any experience/advice on brand? Thanks all!

on 6.0 and 6.4's the oil is cooled by a oil/coolant exchange system that gets clogged very easily....the coolant filter will trap the clogging materials and prevent the oil/collant exchange unit from being clogged. trapping coolant debris will extend the life of your water pump and seals.
most coolant filters are not in line filters that run between the water pump and radiator......the way they work is a T is inserted at the heater hose, from there it goes to the coolant filer, from there it goes to a T that gets connected at the radiator vent line. The vent line returns to the resivor and de-gases the filtered coolant.
