97 Expedition Parking brake light won't come on

When I set the parking brake the indicator light on the instrument panel doesn't come on. It lights up at the initial startup, but when brake is set doesn't light up. Any suggestions?

The switch down on the parking brake foot pedal is dirty.

Thanks for the help, I cleaned the switch with WD40 and didn't seem to do any good, could the switch be bad?

WD-40 is a lubricant not an electrical contact cleaner. So although it might make the switch slide smoother, it can prevent electrical contact. Try spraying some carb cleaner up at the switch to get the WD-40 off. It's possible the switch is bad, but I've never seen one go bad.
